Sept.7, 2010

I hope everyone had a great weekend. We will continue to read 2 stories a week. The children get 10 vocabulary words every week. Please go over them each day until they know the words. Also continue to review the ones they didn't know last week. I sent home a reading log last week. The children need to read books every week and keep a list of the books they read. I have very easy books in the room that they can borrow. They must read the books themselves to record them. If you read it to them it doesn't count on the reading log. I will check the reading logs at the end of each month to see if they are reading. In Math we will start working on subtraction of numbers from 10. In Science, we are learning about bears. We will be working on the bear unit for 2 weeks. On Friday, Sept. 17, we will be having a teddy bear picnic at 12:30 pm. The children need to bring a teddy bear or favorite stuffed animal for the picnic. Thank you to those who sent in pretzel rods. The children really like the pretzel rods for snack time. If you would like to contribute, the children would be glad to have them. Thank you. Gym is on Thursday. Library is on Wednesday.

Thank you.
